Hockey Canada is the sanctioning body for all of Canada’s national ice hockey teams who compete in such events as the Olympics, World Championships and World Junior Championships. Recently, the organization moved into a new facilty to house their administrative offices, as well as four separate ice hockey arenas, which called for a solution to accommodate both office and hockey equipment storage. Team Spacesaver was more than ready for action—scoring with all four mobile shelving solutions.
The first installation featured a mobile shelving system designed primarily for jersey storage and hockey stick storage. The second housed smaller items such as replacement skate blades and blade holders in a lateral bi-file kept in the Equipment Manager’s main workroom. The third mobile system solution kept larger playing equipment, such as helmets, gloves and pants, along with an additional section for storing day-to-day administrative type of items. And lastly, a mobile shelving system in the Administrative area for general office and file storage.
Electronic touchpad locks were used to limit access and protect the valuable gear, as you might suspect, Olympic jerseys and sticks are far too appealing in the memorabilia market for some to resist the temptation, especially during Olympic play. However, no penalties or penalty box time was handed out to the Spacesaver team who, in the end, came through like real champions for Hockey Canada. But, if ever in the future there is a shortage of space in the penalty box, they know who to call.
